About Gayla Alberts Ruby

Your personalized ceremony will be created especially for you, to reflect your individuality and values. I will stress what is most important to you and your loved one.

I am passionate about officiating ceremonies because I believe everyone deserves a heartfelt service which reflects their values and beliefs. I am committed to working closely with you to create a ceremony which will be deeply meaningful and one-of-a-kind.

My passion for officiating started when I witnessed the sensitivity and care which two different officiants brought to the weddings of our children. Both officiants took the time to make the ceremonies personal while including a balance of humor and sincere reflection.

The desire to officiate became even stronger when I attended the wedding of a dear friend who was remarrying. The officiant conducted a "boilerplate" ceremony. The officiant mispronounced the groom’s last name. There were neither stories nor anecdotes about what brought the couple together. I left the ceremony disappointed and upset because the couple’s uniqueness and individuality were completely left out.

I grew up in Wauwatosa, have lived in Wisconsin most of my life, and am a loyal alumnus of the University of Wisconsin - Madison. I married Jake Ruby in 1973 and am a proud mother and grandmother. My background includes facilitating support groups and parent education classes at Parents Place in Waukesha and volunteering with patients and family members at Angels Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc. In addition, I worked for 15 years as a public affairs reservist for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and produced and wrote for non-profit organizations and media outlets, including television and radio.

I look forward to meeting with you and helping create your distinct ceremony!
